Salem, Oregon. – Bridges Oregon is proud to announce a new website expansion on our VOCA Advocacy and Accompaniment Services at www.bridgesoregon.org/advocacy-services. The new site provides expanded information regarding the upcoming opening of VOCA Advocacy and Accompaniment services, which are set to begin on Monday, August 30, 2021. This site offers in-depth content about the VOCA Advocacy and Accompaniment services and includes translated video content in American Sign Language (ASL) with embedded captioning.
After an extensive search for a suitable vendor to provide accessible ASL videos, Caption Anywhere produced ASL-translated videos with captions based on the written content made available on our website. Caption Anywhere recruited skilled ASL translators from across the country to translate the written information into ASL, making them accessible to community members who use ASL as their primary language.
The website explains the VOCA Advocacy and Accompaniment Services that are available when working with our advocate. There is additional information on these topics: Am I Victim?, What is Domestic Violence?, What is Sexual Assault?, Teen Dating Violence, Service Availability, Safety Plan, Your Rights, Relationship Wheels, Power and Control, Brochures, Forms, and much more. In addition to the expanded advocacy web pages, ASL translation is also available on our resource page.
This organization is the only dedicated Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing nonprofit organization that provides advocacy and accompaniment services in Oregon.
Chad A. Ludwig, Executive Director and founder of Bridges Oregon stated, “We are extremely excited about our expanded website and the additional level of service it will provide to our prospective and future clients. It was built with our clients in mind, allowing them to access information, services, and resources.”
